Google reportedly backed away from CEO Larry Page's planned privacy "slider" -- a tool that would have allowed users to select privacy options on a sliding scale -- after realizing that the tool's "tin-foil-hat option" for maximum privacy would have conflicted with Google+'s data-collecting and -sharing strategy.
